Volunteer Roles for Juneteenth Celebration General Parade Volunteer/Parade Volunteer Captain Assist in overseeing 8-10 parade units along the 1.4-mile route (approx. 30 minutes). Responsibilities include answering questions, ensuring safety by keeping the curb clear, and addressing any issues. The shift runs from 6:00 AM to 1:30 PM (flexible). Volunteers should be mature, firm but friendly, and able to handle issues as they arise. Must be 18 or older. Vendor Setup Volunteer Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as you’ll assist vendors find their locations and respond to needs throughout the event. Manage crowd flow. Strong communication and the ability to stand/walk for long periods are required. Runner/Event Support Volunteer Deliver supplies and respond to urgent needs. Manage crowd flow. Volunteers should be energetic, proactive, and ready to provide flexible support throughout the event, ensuring it stays organized and enjoyable. Ability to walk for long periods. Walker/Visitor Guide Serve as a friendly and knowledgeable resource, greeting guests, providing directions, and answering questions about the event. Volunteers should be approachable, enthusiastic, and committed to ensuring a smooth, enjoyable experience for attendees. Kids Zone Volunteer Create a fun, safe, and engaging environment for children and families. Assist with activity stations, arts and crafts, and games. Volunteers should be friendly, energetic, patient, and passionate about working with kids to ensure a memorable experience. Senior Zone Volunteer Assist seniors by helping with seating, engaging in friendly conversation, and facilitating activities like games, line dancing and other fun activities. Volunteers should be patient, respectful, and warm, creating a comfortable and enjoyable space for elders. Mural/Art Help Help with painting, setting up art supplies, and guiding community participants. No artistic experience is required - just enthusiasm and a passion for creativity. Volunteers should be patient, detail-oriented, and dedicated to creating a collaborative art project that reflects culture, history, and unity.
